2005 Cobra

I am a Nissan 350Z owner, thinking of defecting to the Cobra ranks. I have a few questions that hopefully one of you can answer:

1. Will there be a 2005 Cobra? My dealer says yes, but the SVT website says there will be no '05 or 06's????????

2. Can the Cobra be optioned with an automatic xmission, or man-u-shift??

3. Is there a difference between the COBRA and the COBRA-R?

Any help getting me on the right track would be appreciated.

jimmybevis, welcome to the board.

1. No 2005, at the rate they are going, it will more than likely be a 2007. Ford has a deal right now, to where you can lease a 2004 Cobra that is geared to end the lease when the next Cobra is realeased. (on a side note, as far as MOST dealers go, they are the WORST source of information, especially when it comes to Cobras, there are a few exception though )

2. ALL SVT Cobra's have ONLY come with an manual transmission. Thats not to say they won't offer something else for the 07. There has been rumors of the paddle shifters.

3. Yes there IS a difference between the regular Cobra and the R. The R is a streetable race car. No A/C, no Radio, more power (compared to Cobras up until each respective production year), better handling. The R was produced with 105 in 93, 250 in 95, and 300 in 00, they are very rare as you can see by those production numbers.

Good luck, and hope you join the Cobra family
