Camshaft Question

I am looking at two camshafts for my 95 cobra. The first is a Ford Racing E303 Cam. Duration: Int-282,220 / Exh-282,220; Valve Lift is Int-0.498, Exh-0.498. Then there is the Ford Racing B303 Cam. Duration: Int-284,224 / Exh-284,224; Valave lift is Int-0.480, Exh-0.480. Which would be the best street/ strip cam? Also what are the stock specs on the 95 cobra cam? Would it be worth the money to swop cams since the cobras came with a bigger one anyways? Also what kind of power would be predicted? Help is needed badly! Thanks, Andrew.

Aaron, did you have to modify your pistons when you installed your f303 cam. What kind of increase did you see?

The stock cam specs are:
DURATION: 270°/Intake & 270°/Exhaust
LIFT: .485/.485 Intake/Exhaust
LOBE SEPERATION: 118.5°

Some people have idle issues with different cams with the 94\95 computers in our cars. The 94\95 computers like a larger lobe seperation. The E cam is emmissions legal, where as the B cam is not, if that is a concern where you are. I think the B cam would be better for street\strip and the E cam would be more for the street. Remember the lift numbers are using the 1.6 ratio rocker arms, using the stock 1.7 Cobra rocker arms will add app .030" lift to the cam specs. When installing any aftermarket cam it is best to check piston to valve clearance, it is as much as the duration as lift to determine piston to valve clearance.
Have you check into the Crane 2031 Cobra cam? Have heard good things about it. Duration: 214int\220exh. Lift: 513"int\529exh & is made to be used with the 1.7 rockers & emission legal.

Would it be worth the money in swapping cams? I talked to Ford racing and they told me that the b303 wouldn't give me but 5-8 horsepower. $225 for 8 horsepower is alot. What would you think the numbers would be like? I have never thought about crane cams. I have always liked comp cams my self. Both are probably the same though. What kind of power does the crane 2031 Cobra cam make? I am trying to get to atleast 300 rwhp without supercharging since I am in college and don't have the money. Small mods here and there as I get money. Thanks for the help!

Talked to a man from comp cams and he said that installing a comp XE270HR cam and some behive springs would push my 240hp motor to a 350-375hp motor. All for around $500. Does this sound right? Has anyone else used this cam? Thanks Andrew.

I don't think you would get the 350 hp with just the cam & springs.
It would depend on the other mods you have also. Would mean you would need to have over 300 rear wheel hp on the chassic dyno. I have 255 RWHP & 305 RWTQ on my Cobra with bolt ons only & 115k miles. Mods I have are FRPP shorty headers, Bassani X with cats, 2 chamber flows, Pro M 77 maf meter, Crane Hi6 ignition & FRPP extender. All that probly gets me around 290 flywheel hp. For a cam & springs to gain 60 hp is asking a lot. I'm sure with the miles I have, springs would help a lot. Things to remember, will you need a chip to get it to idle correctly? Might try asking over on the Corral 94/95 section or Stangnet 94/95 section , both have good infomation with more traffic & people who have modded their 94\95 GT's & Cobras.
