Feel the Rush...
|
Well, hell....
So I sit here dejected, believe it or not. Ford lemoned my 04 Cobra friday. Yep, called it a lemon. It looks like it say on Galveston beach in the surf for 3 years. Underside is rustier than any of you would believe. I wrote a check for the damned thing, no one thinks to look at the undercarriage of a new car. Gotta say this though, in all honesty, they were complete gentlemen about it. Bad thing is, trying to find a Black 04 this late in the game, not to mention the total thrash removing 20k worth of aftermarket parts...i just hope the new animal growls like this one. Someone direct me to stats on paint so if the black doesn't pan out i can get one possibly with low numbers, and no, sorry, the Mystic just doesn't trip my trigger in any shape form or fashion
The horrible thing about this is the fact this car is far from a lemon. I've had vettes, an SSR, daddy had a 67 z28 that i recently sold. The only thing that lemoned this car is the undercarriage rust. This puppy runs like a striped spider...and now it's gonna be junked due to some moron not cleaning the undercarriage after the 10 miles of track time in january....yes. i'm depressed. Sorry for the rant guys, needed to get this off my chest Jimmie |

Sorry about your loss. I had heard that there have been quite a few Cobras with the rusty undercarriage. Something to do with and acid bath or something. Of course I might be totaly wrong about that. But I am sure that you are not the only one it has happen too.

Butcher~ Thankfully my dealer checked my '03 Cobra from top to bottom BEFORE taking possession of the vehicle. When I got there it was placed in it's own area with about 3 mechanics looking over it (first one the dealer got in). Sorry to hear about your loss but you'll find another '04 and hopefully have good stories to tell with the new steed. Good luck!

Jimmie,
Sorry to hear man. Hopefully they can find you another one quick so you can make it to TWS. Its a shame how someones carelessness in transport, or at some holding lot somewhere, is causing these cars to be lemoned. Sorry I couldn't talk you for long on Saturday, but we were trying to find Unique Performance and were temporary lost. Let me know as soon as you hear something about the car, or I should say a replacement.

I have the car back in the garage now, finally pulled off everything I put on it. Just waiting on the paperwork from Ford, should be in any day. Soon as I get the other car, another thrash putting it back together...thinking about a solid rear axle as well

I am sorry to hear about the rust. That bites! But thanks for the tip, I checked out the one that I bought top to bottom prior to signing anything. The day after I had to take it down to get the wheels swapped and asked them to let me crawl around under the car while it was on the lift. It was clean.

Welp, I settled with Ford Motor Company... They have really been there, which speaks of their customer service. Tommorow or Friday i'll be taking a trip over to Houston to pick up my new Cobra. It's not a black one...heh. I'ts Competition Orange. I settled on this one due to the fact it's the rarest paint in 2004, just 281 made Can you say w00p? Anyway...I won't make the trip next weekend, be thrashing to throw all these parts back on. Can't wait to see what that ProCharger does on the dyno...can you say F2 stage 2 60lb injectors, Focus pumps, i cant begin to list the parts...sacriledge. I have a shaking left leg Jesus. I feel like i"m 12 and I have my first girlfriend coming to the house...i sure will miss my black sweetie. I will get some pics with my Harleys though...should be pretty as a speckled pup

I guess to follow up on the story...heh. I took delivery, brought it home, woke up the next morning. Wen't, had the new tint done....waited. It got finished, I took it to the shop, put the Magnaflow catbacks etc back on. Delivered it to Triangle Speed shop www.trianglespeedshop.com started the rethrash.
Yep, it had 176 miles on it at this point. Put an F1 Stage 2 ProCharger on it after snatching the Eaton, Dual Focus pumps, tweaked the fuel, did a few things bushing, springwise, tied the subframe together. Running about 17lbs boost. Need to toss it on a dyno, which i'll do at this location. Mustang Dyno. I figure i'll drive it a couple weeks, head to Houston, meet some people. Then? Back in the shop. I figure i'll yank the 6speed, toss in an automatic, 5800 stall, snatch the IRS, Moser makes decent 8.8 solid rear assemblies. Yeah, a sweet 4 link will help of course, use the QA1 shocks...wonder what it'll run then with 17lbs? It's built to swap hands from the factory Ford really did a sweet trick with this motor. Again...I sure do have an itchy right leg... |
