All I know is, I have heard rumors of a 500hp cobra. Who knows if it is true or not. Hopefully we will find out something certain in the near future.

From what I have heard, they put a stop to the Lightning development to concentrate on getting the Cobra out.

hopefully that is a sign that they are really putting effort into it...

I heard the 450 h.p. range. Hopefully it will be lightened up some, since there are rumors of the 05 GT's weighing in at 4000 LBS

future fast fun

I was waiting for a flight back from phoenix and i was sitting behind a japanese guy and a young fomoco engineer and they were talking about how the warm weather testing was going on the new 180 mph hybrid supra. my ears got real big when the guy from ford said the svt guys are really interested in what they were doing.

I wonder if the 06 Cobra will be a Shelby-ford product. I know Shelby is working with ford on something.

Quit talking about the 06 Cobra, there isn't going to be one. The next one is an 07 model, coming out in 2nd half of 06.

The rumor is that Shelby will offer a new GT350 and GT500 based on the 05. The Mustang Cobra will not have anything to do will Shelby, that, is SVT's baby

There is no way a GT will weigh more then a Cobra at 3665 lbs. The GT has an Aluminum block vs. cast iron, solid rear axle vs. IRS (about 100 lighter), SOHC vs. DOHC and no supercharger and intercooler. I read that the 05 GT's weigh in at about 3450 lbs.

The 07 Cobra may out accelerate the Vette but I doubt it will out handle a Vette. The Vettes will be much lighter

pick up the november issue of motor trend they have a reveiw of the 05 mustang gt.it weighs 3520 lb so the cobra shouldnt be to heavy.0-60 in 5.1 seconds the cobra coming out next fall should really be fast and from the handleing reveiws of the 05 gt it should handle really well.

Well, since everything is just rumor, I figured I add my .02. From what I've heard the next Snake will be another SC 4.6, but utilizing the Lysholm 2300ax blower (same as Ford GT), and putting down 500hp.

I've also heard it will be a 5.4L Lysholm combo, but I can't see them using that, because it is what the GT has.
