The transmission is not as hard or labor intensive to work on and would depend on the severity of the damage. Not planning on putting them to the test are you? |

imk not completly shore but i thought because of the super charger there are stronger engine internals because of the boost.

You are correct according to the brocure. The cobra engine have a steel crank, Forged pistons, and Manley I beam steel rods

The forged internals may cost more than the 99/01 counterparts, but point blank, the aluminum blocks cost more to manufacture due to the method it is made than the cast iron blocks they are using. The aluminum blocks used in the 99/01 cobras were manufactured by the same company who equipt Ferrari with their aluminum casting process (article in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords). The same may be true with the Cobra R block , the Ford GT and the crate motors with the Romeo plant emblem. As for the other run of the mill products pooped out by Ford, they use different contract companies to manufacture the parts. I sure hope the Iron horse will live up to its predicessor and then some. It sure has a heck of a lot of torque, not to mention the clidesdales as compared to the ponies produced by the earlier motors. From what I had read about the aluminum blocks, is that they are very strong (the internals were another story).

Check out this link. It is very informative and all Terminator owners should look into it. The motor is very expensive (12000 bucks with the supercharger, about 8000 dollars). The internals are all forged, including the pistons. Now the forged pistons are Ford forged as we like to call them because they are kinda weak for forged pistons. But yes, the internals are all expensive. But check out the link, its good info. jack |
