Can't Decide on an Exhaust.
Well, I had planned to purchase the JBA H-pipe with cats and their EVOL exhaust. I contacted them with a few questions and found out that I can't use the stock manifold and I also have to buy their mid-length headers as well. It is around $2100 for everything. Needless to say, I am not going that route. I liked the JBAs because it sounded similar to the set of Flowmasters with an Offroad H that I had on my 97 Saleen. I want a throaty sounding exhaust that will still pass emissions. What are some of your favs? I have heard Magnaflow and Bassani mentioned the most. Any others you guys like?

i've decided no catalytic converters on my mid pipe so i can get that nascar like sound . I'll stick the stock h pipe back on if i need to, to pass emissions. But for right now that doesnt need be done for almost 2 years from now. And i know a dude that will pass it for right now anyways... I think i'm going with this bassani deal.

A friend of mine who has a GT, has the Bassani O/R X-pipe with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers and it sounds great!
I'm going with the Bassani Mid-Length headers, Catted X-pipe, and the Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers! I'll probably still have to run the MIL's to keep the check engine light from coming on, but it'll be well worth it.

to me right now, doing research, listening to other setups... I feel that the bassani o/r x-pipe is the best bang for the buck.

I will stick with the SLP loudmouth on the 04 (was ordered and should be here soon!). I loved it on my 01 but was reluctant to remove it promptly before car shopping. I closed the deal on the 04 since it was the last one on the lot and other dealers in the area did not have any. I will let you all know how it sounds after the exhaust gets seasoned in. This time I plan to record it, stock, after install, and after it quiets down. I am beginning to like the silence and whine of the 04, but I miss the sound of the 01. Last time I heard it was when they moved the car into the garage to swap the wheels. That was sort of like loosing a puppy, but having a new monster on the road was worth the loss even if it is town car quiet (not for long).

I had flowmasters on my cobra, i took them off because they slowed down the car so much... the sound was okay, but performance was sh*t! i put the magnaflows back on.

Compared to the flowmasters how loud are your Magnaflows? I'm looking for something with more flow than stock but not to much more noise. Any suggestions?

the flowmasters to me are just deeper on the idle compared to the magnaflows. I would try out the magnapacks they flow and sound a little deeper than the magnaflows. my buddy just installed them on his 2001 gt.

NewFoundPower~ I put a Borla system on my Cobra and have been happy with not only the sound but also performance. I'd definitely give my vote to them.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Mirage, you know, I hadn't even thought of Borla. I'll have to check it out.

I'll sell you my magnaflow cat-back set up for cheap if you are interested, it's only 6 months old, still shiny, mean, and running great!

I am not sure what to expect with SLP on the 04. I loved them on the 01 but the 04 is different. I am hoping to have the same sound or similar since it is a 4v modular. It may be louder since it has forced induction. Anything will be an improvement over the silence of the silver lamb, gotta turn it into a gray wolf to be happy. I am sure if I like it on the 04 I will be talking about it. I have gotten many compliments on the 01 on the SLP sound alone. Sure made it sound like there was more under the hood than a stock motor and the restrictive headers and quad cats.

The SLP Loudmouth kit just arrived yesterday. It was raining like hell when I got home. The box was soaked and so was I as I had to bring in each piece (whatever I could carry) since the box must have been poorly sealed when shipped. I found all the parts except for the invoice (may be on the box or in the clamp kit). After a full pot of coffee, I will inspect all the parts before installing them. SWEET, I cannot wait until it screams!
