SVTOA Catoctin Moutain Cruise

I still want the SCMC only to do an event but, if your not doing anything this Sunday..maybe you can make it to this cruise. The Catoctin Mountain/Cunningham Falls area is beautiful this time of year. I will be there...unless it is raining. Maybe we can at least meet each other..and discuss doing something ourselves!

Free State SVTOA is pleased to announce our 3rd annual Catoctin Mountain Cruise, to be followed by a picnic in Cunningham Falls State Park. The cruise begins at the State Farm building in Frederick, winds through Thurmont, Cunningham Falls State Park, and Catoctin Mountain Park. The fall foliage will be at it's peak, and the scenery is fantastic! We'll cross covered bridges, wind through (paved) mountain roads, and look out over the valleys cloaked in the brightest fall colors. At the end of the cruise join us for burgers, hot dogs, and soft drinks. Below are the details on the cruise, which is open to all Ford family product owners (e.g. Ford, Mazda, Jaguar, Volvo, Range Rover). The picnic is free to all who join us on the cruise.

WHEN: 8:30AM, Sunday October 24, 2004 until about 2:00PM
WHERE: State Farm Insurance - One State Farm Dr, Frederick, MD ending at Cunningham Falls State Park
WHO: All Ford family owners who participate in the Cruise are invited to join us for the picnic

PICNIC: We'll have a grill set up; burgers and hotdogs and softdrinks are provided. Please bring a side dish or snacks to share (something that will travel well on the cruise!)

We will meet at the State Farm Insurance building at 8:30AM and depart promptly at 9:00AM. Directions to the State Farm Facility are:

From 70 east (Hagerstown way) take the 15/340 north exit which will loop around and send you towards an intersection and the start of Jefferson St. Stay in the right hand lane as this will provide a direct route onto 15 North. Proceed approximately 4.4 miles and make a right turn onto Wormans Mills Rd. Follow that about a quarter of a mile and turn left heading into the State Farm facility.

From 70 west (Baltimore way) when you go past the Costco (you can see it on your right side entering the Frederick City area) stay to your right. After passing under the exit for Market St/Harry Grover Stadium/355 bear to your right following the exit to 15/340 north. Merge to your left onto 15 north and follow the directions above.

From 15/340 south (VA way) as you enter the exchanges for 70/270 stay to your left and follow signs for 15/340 north. As you go under a few over passes move to the right lane which will provide an unobstructed access to 15 north via exit ramp and then follow directions above.
