radiator refill question
Can someone tell me the proper radiator fill technique to burp the system with that black plug on top?

I just did mine and filled at the pipe till full, filled coolant tank and started the car with heater going on defrost, fill as needed with car running , Then shut car off reinstall black plug, restart car and let run for a while to help with the rest of the air fill at coolant tank as needed, if you do not get any heat shut car off let it cool down and remove black plug and start all over again. I did it this way and had no problems with mine at all. I know the book is not written really well .
Hope this helps larry |

Hmm, I tried that on my 01 (using the bung on the top feeder to the heads) and wound up spraying coolant all over the place. Coolant came gushing out like a giezer. I have used the bung to fill up the coolant but never had good results running the motor with the bung cap off. I had better results warming up the coolant with the resivior cap off and the bung closed. Let it cool down and add coolant until it overflows and cap it off. Squeeze all the radiator hoses which will work air out (if the cap on the resivior is off). This may not be the best method for an 03 but it worked very well with the 01. Use cation with the bung plug since it is made of mild steel and you can easily round out the square notch in it. It would be good to have a hex capped plug there instead. A bleeder valve would be a good idea too. I wonder if there is a kit for bleeding the air out of the coolant.
