Value of a 94 Cobra

I recently viewed a 94 Cobra Convertible for sale in an auto trader at a local dealer. The price was 21k. I questioned the dealer about the price, why so high, was it supercharged? etc etc.

He wrote back that the 94 SVT Cobra was rare, only 1000 made and it had only 9300 miles on it, and was number 900something. And it was an Indy Pace Car model, but not supercharged.

Was I being lied to or is that the truth, that they are much rarer than my 98 Cobra Convertible?

Thanks

We just had this same question on our technical mailing list. I bought my 1994 Indy car #22 for 16K even and it had 9390 miles on it. There were 1000 of them produced and all of them are red with a tan top and interior. I would go by www.kbb.com and add a couple of grand for collectability. He is pricing himself out of the market.

I don't know if this convertible is more rare then yours but it is probably more collectible.

Just my .02 worth!

No the dealer wasn't lying.. The 94 SVT Cobra Convertable Pace car is rare.. Only 1000 was made.. Yes it's more rare than the 98 Cobra since the 98 Cobra had a 3480 build number on the Cobra Convertibles.. Now the most rare Cobra's ever made were the Cobra R.. Which were made in
93 with only 107 made,
95 with only 250, and
2000 with 300
Hope that helps.. Later

Only thing he skirted on was the blown part. From the factory, 94 SVT wasn't blown.

my 2 cents

I prefer NADA.com for cars over five years old (but I cross check kbb.com). NADA also has values for the 93/95/00R's.

I just checked the '94 Cobra 'vert with 9000 miles. It showed $12K. I agree with cobrabitn. You'll need to adjust it, but I think it should be closer to $16k than $21K.

I'd still go over it very carefully. Be sure it hasn't been hit. Everything must be perfect.
