315 tire questions.
Ok guys, I am thinking about running a 10.5 inch rear wheel. I was just curious as to how expensive the 315s are and if there is any issue with running a wider tire. Does it rub a/g anything? Do the tires come in contact with the fenderwell if you hit a dip in the road? Thanks alot.

I just got some 10.5 put on mine a week ago and I'm running the 315 tire by Goodyear (Eagle F1 GS-D3) 315/35 R17. I ordered the rims from LateModel Restoration (SCMC vendor
![]() These are the stock Cobra style wheels, great price for the wheels. The tires you can get from www.tirerack.com for around $277 each, but the tires are your choice and I'm not sure if you're wanting to go with a totally different wheel or what!? To the question about the rubbing! I've heard different story's, but me personally haven't had any problems. I put the H&R springs on, and I used a .25" spacer which I'm taking out Monday! I replaced all the Rear Sub-frame bushings with steeda bushings, along with the differential bushings (Steeda also SCMC vendor ![]() ![]()

Thanks Jason. I hadn't considered running a bigger tire until I was leaving a stop light the other night and spun my wheels all the way through 2nd. I'm hoping that the wider tires will help me hook a little better. Now time to decide what I want to do; Kenny Brown suspension, JLT CAI, wider tires and rims, MAC H-pipe, ported Eaton, pullies. Decisions, decisions.

Are y'all using 315 on 10.5 just in the rear?
I've got 285's on the front and they just peek out. Any pushing issues with 315 in back?

About the tires, the stock tires suck on traction, that's one of the reasons I ran into the curb when that idiot pulled out infront of me! If I had gotten traction I would have taken off straight, but the tires let loose and I hit the curb (dry road too)! Oh well, I got some wider rims and good hook-up tires! ![]()

I swear it is an addiction. I told myself that I wasn't gonna mod my car very much until the warranty ran out. Once I did the first one (MGW shifter) it has been downhill from there. But I bought the car to have fun with so that is exactly what I am gonna do.

The 10.5 wheel works great on the rear with the 315x35x17 BFG Drag Radials, complete with the 12" tread width -- hooks well, except on wet surfaces -- and no tire will hold the torque of an 03 Cobra on wet surfaces.
Clearance is fine, except when the car is on a lift, or airborne. The tire will hit the IRS bolt/frame without a spacer (I use a 7/32" spacer). No fender problems. Hope this helps. jmiller Jacksonville, NC

I worked it for awhile, he has it fit, This really is suspension relative. Read the earlier post, do a search, Look at ArchAngels Cobra, sharp car. However, wont work for everone, depends on what you doing with the Cobra and most importantly, the year model. Pay attention ![]() Jimmie |
