New Job

Gave my resignation today after 32 years. That was tough to do. It is like loosing a family. 32 Years, I sure feel old. New Job was to start Jan. 3rd but they want me to come to Austin for meetings. So I start tomorrow as General Manager of the new Houston location for a 700 million dollars company. Now the fun begins, lot of different challenges but also new possibilities. Thanks to you guys that I talked to about this before I made a decision. Your input helped a lot. A new year and new job, got to hurry and get that KB put on

That is great news Carl. I can imagine how hard it can be to leave someplace that you have worked at for 32 years. Knowing you and that good attitude of yours, I know you will do a great job running that company (700 million WOW).
GIT ER DONE!!!!

bring on the KB

Whoa! That's crazy man. Big change but a bunch of room to grow. What were you like 3 when you started working there? Damn, I guess we are hanging with a big wig now.

Good Luck Carl!

Let me add a few pennies to this too. As hard as it was to leave your old job, look at it as you are going to meet new people and make more friends. As for the corporate part....don't look back. Corporate America is cold and cruel and they don't really care much for their employees unless they have some sort of financial gain out of it. I worked in Corporate America for 7 years and it was just a bunch of political BS.

Look out for what is best for you and your family and don't feel like you owe your old company anything. You gave them 32 good years, they give you a pension. Your bargaining agreemnet with them is over. Now, go out and learn new things, enjoy the challenge, and live life to the fullest! Go drive that Snake!

More 2 cents...

Since you have been working longer than I have been alive all I really have to say is Good luck and I hope it works out for you. Ive been working in corporate america for 6 years now and what I have learned is that its really hard finding a job that gives you the right amount of balance between work and family. I hope you find that balance because I remember when I left 1 job to make a dozen K more a year but I worked 60-80 hours a week and I realized that $$$$$ is not everything. Congratulations on working for 1 place for 32 years. That is definetly not normal anymore in today's work environment. I wish you the best Carl G.
