20 wheels?? can it be done?

I wonder if its possible to put 20X9.5's front and 20X10.5's rear on an 2003 cobra? anyone done it?

Will they fit? are there tires that would fit? Im am seriously thinking of doing it if I can make it work.

IMHO, anything above an 18 looks tacky as hell on a Cobra (the 05's are a different story)

....

But.. thats my opinion, and its your car, so do whatever you feel best.

I have seen 20's before, but I am not sure how wide they were.

I agree with Firme, but it is your car so do what you want. I have seen 20's before on an '03 and I think they were 8" wide though. In my opinion they looked way to big for the car. It looked like an SUV. I have also seen 19's on a GT before, those were right on the line of looking to big. I have the 18" cobra R's on mine, and I think 18's are the perfect size.

Just my 0.02.

I have 18's on all four corners and I still have that illusion that the front wheels look bigger than the one's in the rear. It is not quite as bad as it was on the 01 (probably due to the lower stance on the 04). Monster truck wheels may look okay on some vehicles but for some reason I think the larger wheels were intended for SUV's more so than small sedans or coupes. I think the Chrysler Cross fire has 20's on the rear. Those wheels look way too big for that small car, However, it does have some appeal to it. It may be a factor of how the fender is shaped. It may even look great, but I have not seen any Mustangs with anything larger than an 18 inch.

I agree with them. My sister has a 03 Roush and it has 18's and looks just right. Anything any bigger IMO would look to big. Plus the bigger you go the tougher the ride.

I have to change my mind now after looking at the yellow cobra. That thing looks very nice. Just wondering how it rides on those big tires? With the lowering and rims, thats a sweet look!!!

Interesting that this post is here today... Just last night I came across a guy with 20's on a 03 GT. He told me that he had already broken two rims (factory replaced). And is getting ready to go down to 18". Claimed that he didn't like the ride at all. Not enough rubber.

There is a difference between the Terminator IRS and the GT suspension, however.

Guess it depends on what your looking for. I thought that the 20's made the car look a bit bug-eyed . Didn't quite look right to me. Just my .02

If it doesn't make it go faster, shift quicker, bite harder, handle better, or sound meaner, it ain't going on my car.

Besides, how much do those 20's weigh? As much as the car? LOL!!!

Merry Christmas all!!!!!

I would have to admit, that yellow stang looks sweet! I also like that wagon too. Hey Casey, is that your daily driver? Besides that, I noticed a huge difference when going from stock 17 to aftermarket 18's. Especially with wider width in the rear, tires spin too easily when launching which is probably due to the low profile of the tire which requires a higher air pressure. You loose a bit of contact area with lower profile tires in the rear, on the flip side, you also get increased road feel up front due to reduction in lateral roll of the side wall. I was even thinking that the ride was a bit harsh with the 18's. That is to be expected.
