Exclamation What Rotors do you run?

Ok, all you on track race drivers, (loosely includes Tony! )what rotors do you run and most importantly what do you pay for them. Also, where do you buy from?

I've been running Brembo slotted rotors and the best price I can find is from TireRack front $280 a pair and rears $230 a pair. All suggestions welcome!

I just saw the plains for a lot less then that at Buy Ford Racing for $59.00 each. I thought about ordering a set but Robbie is giving me his set so it will probably wait till a "need to have" basis. I use the stock solid rotor at the track.

Tire Rack still has the OEM Brembo, but the price went up to $71 ea. for the front. (used to be $62, guess the euro is doing really well)

I just bought a set of powerslot II (slotted and dimpled) , $126 ea.

They have the powerslot (slotted) for $118.

I don't have enough miles on the new rotors yet to give a good review.

I now run the Powerslots from Tirerack. They fit the 13" Brembo caliper set just fine. I still run Carbotech pads, front and back.

Which Carbotech pads are you using and how do they treat your rotors?

Get the OEM Brembo's Greg (Tire Rack).

I've ran the Carbotech Panther Plus's and the Cobalt Spec VR's. The PPlus isn't supposed to be as aggressive at the Spec VR's, but for some reason I like the PPlus's better. The PPlus's can be driven to and from the track, but they make a TON of dust of course, and need to heat up for a few blocks before you can stop the car.

Thanks Craig, I was not sure if I wanted to get the Panthers or the Plus. I ran the Plus on my Lightning last year and the heat that was generated destroyed my stsock rotors, and melted the pistons in the calipers. It was the cost of rebuilding my brakes after every event that made me get a Cobra.

Thanks guys, looks like I'll go OEM Brembo from Tire Rack. I also run Carbotech pads but I'm trying the Spec ones this time out. I will have the PantherPlus on the back though. The last set of Carbotech pads I had ate the SH*T out of my rotors...BUT, you do stop quickly!

I have the expensive two piece floating rotors (brembo) and I went back to the standard brembo rotors as well. The standard rotors actually hold up better then the two piece setup.

So the question is do the stock brimbo rotors hold up using an aggressive pad like the Panther Plus or are they toast after the event.

Here is a pic of one of my calipers, off my L, after running at CMP last year. I was using the Panther Plus pads. They allow me to stop very well for a while.

Hey,
I've got rotors that have been used 3 weekends with Panther plus's and they are still fine. I've even had them turned once and I've got plenty of life in em. My rears are the stock rotors and I've used them for 8 track events. Just bring an extra set in case you're worried. You just melted the piston boot. Just go ahead and remove them, you'll end up melting them again if you get more.

Craig

John,

I don't see them on their website but I would give them a call if someone wants them. On page 15 of the March edition of MMFF they have them listed for $59.00 each. It does not specify year but they show a 5 bolt pattern.
