Lightbulb 02/11: Car Lift Field Trip?

Sorry for such short notice...

But if anyone else is interested in a four-post lift, me and a few friends are going to head over to Eagle Lifts next Friday, 2/11, after lunch to see what they have to offer...

http://66.113.231.142/page/EE/CTGY/LI-SS

It's in Joshua, TX just south of Fort Worth.

I've looked at them before and for what you get, it seemed overpriced ... but then again, isn't everything
Anyway, I intend to use it to work on my car and just park under it (in raised position) almost normally at other times.

May have to remove and/or relocate my automatic garage door opener though

Question

I am planning on buying a 2-post. I have looked at both and I like the ability to have clear access to the wheels and underside of the car that a 2-post gives. In my search around the net the best deal I have found is this:
http://www.americasprideonline.com/V...=no&ID=1015186

If you have a low ceiling then this is the way to go:
http://www.americasprideonline.com/2...1-.ViewProduct

These are fairly easy to install and having used one I really like how they work. We had some folks in this area a few years back do a group purchase and bought 5 lifts and got a discount. What do you folks think about a group purchase for the club???

We got the kwiklift for working under thru group purchase with the vettes, so it wasn't as expensive as those prices. Can you actually park a car on it for storage and raise it up and put one under? That would be good assuming you had plenty of ceiling clearance.

I'll inquire about a group purchase when I'm there...
I'll report back after the trip.

I had originally looked at two post lifts and those prices are very tempting, but I didn't want to have to drill holes into the concrete to mount a permanent lift. I don't even know how thick my concrete is...

Four post lifts can be moved around with casters and you can still get to the tires with jacking rails which span both runners and either use jack stands of a hydraulic jack that can lift that end of the car.

can you post a link because all I can see is a minature lift that only raises the car a foot or two

That's all it raises them, about 20 inches, enough to get under or sit and do stuff. And it is totally portable, easy to move around if you get the casters and easy to put together and take apart if you don't want to leave it up all the time.
