Question Installing IRS bushings

How hard is it to install the IRS bushings? Where is the best place to get them? I gotta do something about this wheelhop!

Thanks,
Rodney

Ive heard varying opinions...the shop who did mine, had a whale of a time...my friend said they kept wanting to come out when they tried to put the IRS back in (only two working on it)...so I would say $250 is probably what it's gonna cost ya...I would also invest in some new tires...those two things along with H&R sports have pretty much eliminated my wheelhop...

Maximum Motorsports is the best place to get them from. They make a lot of other good parts for the IRS, as well as the whole car

Everybody is right on the install is a huge PITA. I did mine on a weekend... took two days to get all four rubber bushings removed and the urethane bushings back in. Getting the IRS BACK in the car proved to be much more difficult than actually getting the bushings in... the front mounting points don't like to go in after the new bushings are in. It's a really tight fit.

My car is a convertible... and those, plus the usual spring install did absolutely nothing for wheelhop. The verts are more prone to worse wheelhop than the coupes it seems. I just finished tonight replacing the stock half shafts with the DSS Level 5 units, and the Maximum Motorsports aluminum differential bushings. Wheelhop is considerably less and I'm not afraid of breaking a half shaft anymore

The replacement for displacement has "Whipple" cast into it.

Chuck Norris built my Cobra. It runs off the tears of small children and makes 10,000 horsepower. He calls it his "street version."

good to see you got the new half shaft... ...and you are right about getting the IRS back in to place...that's what my shop said too...they said the next person who wants them done will be charged $500 , I got lucky I guess b/c it was the first time they had put them in

hehe
Concur with all the above Just put them in 2 weeks ago. Total PITA. Started at 9 AM and finished up about 1030 PM. The directions looked a lot easier than the job thats for sure. Haven't been able to test the effect on wheel hop yet though because of course the forward bolts on the car were the wrong ones and haven't had time to put the right ones in yet. I don't like the feel of the clunk when I semi get on it so I don't want to thrash them yet. I will be installing all the rest of the bushings (rear/front a-arms), MJ brace and differential prothane bushings this weekend, Oh yeah and the Eibach springs. I'll let you know how that works out.

Thanks for the info guys, I dont know if I wanna fool with them or not. It sounds like a lot of trouble, but they must be worth it considering the number of people that install them. I dont know, maybe I think about it somemore.

Thanks,
Rodney

I would think that most shops would charge you $250 at most to install them b/c they probably don't know how hard they are either...i would just get some install quotes up front, that way they can't charge you extra, in case it takes longer
