who has a RWTD diablo predator tune?
ok just got my predator from RWTD and basicly it looks new in box like it should but there is nothing in there saying I got my custom tune? figured there would be a sheet or something saying that or is that just normal? also nowhere in the directions does it say how to turn the damn thing on, does it run by the power of the car? thanks for anwsering my bonehead questions.

I'm not really sure about the custom tune question, but the predator will only turn on if its hooked to the car or if you have an a/c adapter to plug it into the wall.

Hey BMF
I have the diablo predator tuner myself Mine came with 2 custom tunes as well. one is called the performance tune and the other is called the pulley tune. It boots up when you plug it into the diagnostic port that is above the gas pedal. While you are using it it will tell you when to turn the key to the run position periodically. You don't do it while the car is running. One of the first things mine did was upload the stock tune to save it if you want to restore it later. after that it will give you the option of installing one of the custom tunes. The whole procedure took maybe 5 minutes tops. I have never used one of these things before but it was pretty clear once you plugged it in. There should have been an instruction manual as well. I am currently running the performance tune since I haven't swapped pulleys yet. After I installed it I took it to a dyno to make sure the tune was safe before I really got on the gas. It was a little on the conservative side so I leaned it out a little on the upper end to put it it at about 11.8 AFR. It was running at about 11.4 right out of the tuner. So I was definitely satisfied with it It gave me about 20-25 RWHP with the performance tune so it was definitely a noticable improvement.

you plug the predator into the OBD2 test port to power up the unit.
go here and register, James will answer all your questions and he can write you a custom tune. www.diablosporttuning.com I have a custom tune from RWTD and I'm very happy with it. Dave

Not that I'm aware of. But I have gone to the RWTD website for Q&A and to make sure I have the current rev etc on the tune and hardware/software. I haven't needed to use the custom tune over the internet feature yet. That and I'm not real sure how to do it. How would they know what to change with no data? I fine tuned the tune a little with the help of a tech at turbo technologies during the dyno session to make sure I didn't do anything dumb since I am kinda new to this computer tuning thing. When I get some extra free time maybe I will give them a call to see how it works. I read their how to online but I am still fuzzy on it. Especially when I start playing with the boost

IMO the custom tune option is the way to go when a pulley change is made. The pulley tune in the predator is a generic tune that diablo came up with after testing multable 03 Cobras....all cars are different and will respond differently to the tune, some people experienced detonation after the pulley tune was installed and some were fine with it. ALWAYS check your tune on a dyno after installing.
James will write a tune for you based on your mods and what climate you live in (example: I live at sealevel) he has tested 100's of cars and is very good to work with...alls you have to do to get a custom tune is go to the forum to request custom tune send your info, and James will write your tune and post it in your private forum. You then can save the file to your desktop....you will need to go to Diablo's site to get the Ford downloader software and install it on your comp to tranfer the file from your comp to the predator. The custom tune will replace the performance tune in the predator.......but as I stated above dyno your custom tune to make sure you don't have to do some fine tuning. When I installed my first custom tune my car went pig rich at 5000rpm's and recovered at 6200 to 11.8. I sent james my .drf files from the dyno and asked him if he had turned off the predictive catalytic converter temperature model. He told me it was off, he then wrote me a new tune and turned off the HEGO and flange temp models and the tune was dead balls on running a flat 11.8 in the high rpm's no adjustments on my end needed. I have since ported the eaton and gone to the SCT bigmouth MAF, I pegged the stock MAF after the port job....James wrote me a new tune and same results...a/f was perfect. I am very satisfied with the help and support I have recieved from RWTD. Dave

what section are you posting in because I get no awnser over there? I figured out most of it tonight when I plugged it in, very simple and strait foward for the most part. I just want conframation I got my custom tune before I install my pullies. right now I uploaded the performance tune sinc eI still have few performance mods but havent had a chance to drive it yet. hopefully the performance tune turns off the rear O2's but if not I was reading that you can go in and do it yourself.

I dont have one, but from what I was told, James sends you a tune based on your mods (ie, I/E/P/C)...you can then "assume" it's safe and take it to the dyno...then if something seems off, like the A/F is very lean/rich, then you can send it back to him and he'll tweek the tune...like Dave said, he's very busy, so you may need to be a little bit patient...good luck
