Hey I have a red convertivle V6 1995 mustang, and I was wondering what it would take to convert my car into a SVT Cobra mustang. If anyone could help me i'd appreciate it. thanks

Nice ride...

You are in for a big job if you plan to convert and by the time you spend the bucks to convert it, you'd be better off to sell your current pony car and go buy a 94/95 Cobra convertible.

Conversions would include:

Rear gear change
Engine change
Front bumper cover
Oil cooler
Motor mounts
Computer
Fog lights
Rear wing
Exhaust system
Brakes and calipers
Wheels
ABS if you don't have that?
Fuel system
Instrument gauges
Transmission

And a ton more I am sure I am not listing... please see above paragraph.

Thanks a lot bro, I appreciate you taking the time to type that up for me even though you say that may not be all .

I was just wondering what it would take and if you wouldn't mind whats the difference? Compared to buying a new one and modifying my old one as far as expense? $15,000 to convert? and $20,000 for new? lol i'm just wondering.

If I don't convert my current 95 mustang V6 whats a good engine and exhaust to put into it. Where should i look for new fuel injector and how much / where can i get a different color convertible top?

Thanks

$15,000.00 would not even cover all the parts you would need to do a conversion. Unless you plan on doing all the work yourself labor cost will likely double that amount (or more). The only reasonable way to convert yours would be if you could buy a wrecked one that had most if not all of the parts you needed. As Tony said, you could by a real Cobra in the year range of yours for less and not have to worry about how well it was put together. I worked through the idea of converting my 1988 Tbird Sport to Mustang specs or better using aftermarket parts. By the time I would have had it completed I would have spent well over $30k even with doing some of the work myself. So I decided to buy a Cobra instead.

"Oh and are you rich or just not as young as me? because lol you have 2 94's and one 2004? wow.. i barely have one 95 stock convertible"

Now you know what Tony does with all of our club dues...

Nah, I'm not rich, just a wreckless truck driver.

Well, you came to a Cobra board so I guess you can figure we are all biased...well at least most of us are.

You would have to go to a top shop to get a different color for your droptop. Most 6 cylinder people put on an aftermarket exhaust that converts it to a dual exhaust. I would probably recommend some slight mods like a cold air kit, exhaust, maybe a timing bump. If you go with a power adder, I'd just save the money and get a V8 GT or Cobra.

If I wanted a Cobra and had 15K to spend, I'd go here... www.autotrader.com

Just my .02 cents here, but if you are going to the trouble to throw in a new motor.......................I'd just sell yours like stated above and get a Cobra!

You can find a 95/96 Cobra for cheaper than it'll cost you to get a nice motor put in that thing.

If you were to get a sweet @ss motor you'd be looking at around $10,000, the benefits for this would be a lighter car with a lot of horsepower, but why not sell yours and take whatever you sell it for plus around $10,000 and get a Cobra?

Just a thought!

I don't even know why im on here talking about it, considering i don't even have close to the money required to get a Cobra, although I want one really bad. LoL, I guess I was just interested in seeing if it'd cost a lot to convert, and obviously so. Thanks for all the advice, I can't really afford a Cobra but does anyone know where I can get the best deals on an exhaust, cold air intake, fuel injector, and an engine rebuilt for a 95 V6 mustang? thanks again.
